So, Xandax, do we have your blessing?

I think what Xandax is saying is that he doesn't care one way or the other.

As far as blessings go, well not to diminish Xandax's greatness or anything, but the decision on custom titles is ultimately Buck's decision (as Xandax said himself) :D

yes, but if we get Bucks minions on our side, then the great one himself is more likely to approve.

strategy DW, strategy

It doesn't make any diffference if they don't care..

Besides, and no offence intended, but I'm not looking for anyone's approval. ;)

DW, I'm disappointed. Even after reading the new gospel, you aren't showing abject approval of everything around you. I think you need to spend more time in your happy place.

Happy place.... Happy place.... everyone is wonderful.

ROFL!
You definitely get a "Touché" for that one :D

You're right... Either that or should be spending more time in "The Three Monkeys Tavern..." :p

an idea

If it isn't too difficult to realize it would be great, instead of a title, to confer a distinction according to the number of posts in each forum.
f.i. #posts in SYM --> a SYMer distinction
#posts in RPG*game --> a RPG*er distinction
the distinction could be a badge next to the nick and the title !?!
or pehaps it could be seen in "user profile" !
What do you think about it? :D

That would make people go bananas and post like insane, just to get that title, wouldn't it?

i must say i think this is the longest one of my threads has lasted... *checks it's still going*... yes, i think it is the longest thread i've had!

10 points for me!

While I toyed with the possibility of just replacing the privilege of "exalted member" with the custom title, which kicks in at 50 posts, I do think, after considering it, that tying the notion to post count isn't a great idea.
It would likely lead to post farming...

How about though... if this were even possible...
If it were granted after somebody has introduced themselves in the Anatomy thread?

Well, I don't know that it should be tied to anything specific. Even the anatomy thread... what about people that don't hover around SYM? What about the people that just wander around the forums about the games they play? They would miss out.

But I guess that also makes the assumption that people outside of SYM matter, which isn't a proven fact.

That is one of the better ideas around. And it would work too as long as nobody would use their titles "against" those without titles. What kind of custom titles would it be? Can you choose your own (as in Twisted sister), or would there be a set of titles (über spammer, board zombie etc.)?

I do see what you mean....
*sigh* I think I was just hoping to attract more posters to SYM ;)

@darzog: until i saw Ravs post count double mine (over a year ago) and he only joined about a month before me, i was one of these of which you speak. don't forget that the GB forums are made for RPG games, not general discussion.

I think the whole idea is to allow for people to choose their own titles, much like location or signature. I, for one, would not like to have a limited choice of titles imposed upon me, that would only be a slight expansion on what we have presently ;)

Free choice has led to the degenerated state of the US. NO MORE CHOICE!!!! NO MORE CHOICE!!!! NO MORE CHOICE!!!!

Actually I just don't like it cause I'm too boring to make up a title for myself.

If we were to have titles, I would think they had to become a part of the forum rules. No offencive stuff etc.

I'm positive to custom titles. As a start we could have a test period in the beginning, if Buck is unsure about it.

Nothing offensive? "Exalted Member"

While I guess it's not exactly offensive to a guy, it's not very appropriate to women since they don't have members. Oh wait, was that offensive?

I seriously hope you got my point when I wrote that post :D

But with no limits at all, wouldn't it just become a second user name? Shouldn't there be some rules or vetting process?
But I for myself would say nay to a nice title as "Brat Prince", "Sucker" or "Twisted Sister" of course. :D
