That's an adequate explanation for me. At least you have a geographic reason for liking them. I can't stand all the wannabe poser yankee fans that exist everywhere. But that's not you, so it doesn't matter.
The Red Sox and Yanks have actually had some really good series this year. If you've gotten to see any of them, consider yourself treated.

Satisfied?
No worries. I am a Red Sox fan and passionately hate the Yankees. But the hate between the fans and teams is really healthy for the rivalry. So while I disagree strongly with your opinion Kam, I certainly respect it. (No matter how wrong you are

Nor me - at least I can say "Look, my cap is authentic and from the 2000 WS, yours is made by
adidas
"

Small comfort, though, it's automatically assumed that I think Whitey Ford is a small river crossing in the Canadian Rockies

Sadly, I haven't - a meagre few highlight reels is all I've been able to see. Been following the scores avidly on TeleText, though
I'm going to the States in September, though, so hopefully I'll be able to drop in on a game or two, and help cheer on the pennant win.

Well Gwally, even before the dodgers moved, the Yankees had a real rich tradition of winning. There is no other team in US professional sports that better embodies the meaning of champion, although I despise admitting that.
These days, especially since the 94 strike, the Yankees have been able to buy championships. I'm not saying the teams weren't fantastic and they still have to play and win the games; however, all the world series crowns in recent years are tarnsihed. Even if the red sox should somehow win the world series, the victory is tarnished because of such an exorbitant payroll.
Personally, I'd find it most amusing if the MN twins won the world series cuz it'd be a fine (insert the bird here) to major league baseball, the owners, and the players union.

@Tyb - I don't passionately hate Red Sox fans - I pity you for having a second-rate team to cheer on
EDIT - gotta agree with everything that Ned's just said there...

I find all of this very strange and I want nothing more to do with this dirty old man.

Me too. I was in Colorado when the Rockies were formed, and it was really fun to be in on the ground floor of a team in the making. There was a lot of fan support, and it didn't much matter if we won or lost. Unfortunately, I don't follow baseball that much in AZ, since I really thought that the Diamondbacks bought their team with lots of money, just like the Marlins did. I woudl rather see a level playing field, then good players would evenly distributed and the various races would be more competitive.

New game - try and get a rise out of Tybaltus. If this comment didn't garner a response, I don't know what will, really...
