scanners...
after getting the scanner into a viable position, setting up the colour and brightness controls, putting a coat over my head, THEN persuading the computer to start scanning, i finally got a reasonable result.
admittedly, it looks almost nothing like me, it's too big, and the scanner's manky surface makes it look like my face is rotting, but it was that or buy a camera - the last photo of me was taken a year ago.

ha ha ha....you look so smooth @Rob-nark, but the illusion comes tumbling down when we just imagine you bent over a desk, head under coat, with wierd light beams shining out of the cracks, while trying to deftly manipulate the PC blind with one hand. Ha ha.
and it's upside down.

of course it's upside down. do you really think i could be bothered to turn it the other way up in some sort of photo editing thingumy?
oh, and 'deftly manipulate' *really* isn't the appropriate phrase.
and those wierd light beams are not nice - always remember to close your eyes.
