Doesn't that stand for the Special Air Service or something like that? Aren't they your Anti-Terrorist/Commando/Intelligence forces? Oh, damn...

! Maybe I should rethink this trip. I have a bad feeling in my stomach that I'm going to end up in trouble...
...never mind, that was only the alcohol mixing poorly with the greasy hamburger I had for lunch. What is the exchange rate now anyway?
@Athena - Have fun with the horse! *waves back*

You needn't worry the SAS are rarely deployed for tax evasion- I'd be more concerened about Her Majesty's Customs and Excise- ruthless bastards to a man.

What should I do to blend in more so that I don't look like the average tourist? I don't want them eyeing me fromt he very start. Maybe I should lose the massive camera, funny looking shorts, guide book, enormous baseball cap, and the sunscreen from my nose?

Funny looking shorts and baseball caps are in- you'll look like a native!
Camera you might get away with- lots of plane fetishists at the airport.
Guide book- if you keep it in your shorts you'll be fine.
Sunscreen?- With the exception of the freak weather conditions at the moment we don't get sun- leave it at home.

It was purely exageration. My father was an SAS paratrooper and has worked for HM Customs & Excise as both an anti-drug smuggling unit, and a tax inspector in his day, so I'm an expert
Edit: for Erenor's info: the exchange rate is approximately 1.82 US Dollars 1 Pound Sterling.

My dear fellow, have you no idea what irony is?

No. I prefer a female to do the housework
Plus I like to gloat where ever possible about the elite military being in my blood

I'm still afraid now. I don't want somebody coming after me and jumping out of a plane to catch me from above, just because I didn't pay my value added tax. Paratroopers are cool, though. 101st all the way!
Wow, I like the irony/ironing joke. And nothing wrong with having pride for family in the armed services. Looks like your exchange rate is gonna screw me, though. Ouch.

@Den A homorous reply, no doubt, though not quite the response I was expecting.
Incidentally, do you have a better half at the moment?

In the words of the southern hicks my country is embarrassed of: "Them's fightin' wards, partna'!"
We saved your ass, twice! I don't know how your history books are written, but I'm pretty sure you guys don't all speak German right now. We didn't have that many airbourne regiments at the time, so one great one and a few pretty good ones is still okay in my book. And on both sides, the paras are a tough bunch.

Sadly no. I'm going through one of those troughs in life where the female race seems utterly evil and not worth bothering with

dealing with one annoying one on the phone now
Perhaps I'll find a voluptuous and exotic continental women during my holidays that will take me to her villa and rekindle ze passion of lurve

Firstly, I wasn't besrmiching the good name of any of the American paratroop regiments- it's just that only the 101st manged to do any real work because the rest were scattered all over Normandy- an observation, nothing more.
Second, I am not an arrogant Brit, I will concede that the sheer size of German armed forces in WW2 meant that without American aid we would indeed be speaking German by now. However, I'm not certain that one can say the same about WW1, which was a complete **** up from start to finish- as Blackadder said it would have been "a hell of a lot simpler if we'd just stayed in England and shot 40,000 of our men a week." American aid or not, the war would have just got bloodier and bloodeir until we all came home any way.

That's true. Damn old school trench warfare was almost as retarded as the American Revolution ( I don't know what you guys call it). Lines of Americans and British soldiers standing in a row, standing up, and taking turns firing volleys of iron at eachother. You'd think somebody would have learned to duck a lot sooner.

What's this duck crap, real men stand their ground and take one for their country.
