I recently bought that game (for €2.90) and I don't understand: did they put the element "fun" in it somewhere or was it cut out to save budget?

Fun? Who said revolution was fun?
I enjoyed it, and it wonderfully captures the atmosphere of an ex-soviet republic, but I can imagine that it's not up everyone's street. Maybe for the older "bezadigde" gamer?

I had the strong impression it was just about getting some info and influence over neighbourhoods, multiplied by the length of the game, but I hope I was horribly wrong, because I only played it for, like, an hour...

[/QUOTE]As the game progresses you get different types of assignments and move other cities, aquire new henchmen etc. But it's clearly more of a strategy game than anything else.
