dual cheating problem..

Hmm.. I guess this one I deserved, but I am wondering if this is a general problem, or if it occured just because I cheated...
I took Yoshimo and gave him a huge amount of IQ via some CLUA'ed in books.. and then I dualled him into a mage (GREAT thing that
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)
)
And now.. -(he was level 14 when I did this, as I wanted some extra points in his thieving skills first) - now he's lost ALL of his extra points, every thieving skill he had has now been reduced to 45 in all of them...
![Frown :(](./images/smilies/)
Now he's even worse than Nalia!! And dies because of his own traps and can't even pickpocket a (specific) chicken!! And of course I didn't save the game before I did this horrible horrible thing to him (and my party).. *sob*
Is that normal?? Or is it only because he was never designed to become a mage?
I did the same to Minsc, dualled him into a cleric (I'm a lorebook adict), and he didn't loose anything...

You can't use the abilities of an inactive class. Level him to a Level 15 mage and all will be fine.
And i'm fairly sure only 3rd edition has INT-related thieving skills. In 2nd edition everything is determined by DEX.

Confirmed on all accounts. In 3rd and 3.5 edition, rogues (the 3.X edition 'thief') use Int for skills related to detecting and disarming traps, appraising items (in order to either pay less or sell for more), and to commit or detect forgery.

And BTW, he has an additional 25 in strength, dexterity, constitution and IQ..

He uses the Dexterity (or so the manual says)

Since you don't mind cheating, why not use shadowkeeper to make his attributes exactly what you want. I personally only use it to re-distribute atributes such as the skills in weaponry, but you could use it to make a superhuman if you wanted to. That's your choice.

Well.. I have some minor problems with Shadowkeeper; I have absolutely NO idea how to change which stats in what way proberly.. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but it seems to crash the game every time I do something with it. - So I'm only changing things I can see is working for the other characters - which until now is the incredible amount of ONE thing - the colour of their armor
I would SO love to make Yoshimo a fighter-thief (and not the other way around, I want the UAI
![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/)
) But I have no idea how to do that..
BTW, what happens if you put in more stars in the proficiency slots than the class allows?

I gave instructions on how to DC Imoen
here substitute character/class as appropriate.
