so i was venturing and i picked up Valygar and then i finished up Nalias quest (the one where you kill tor'gal) After finishing that quest i went to the promenade and after a short time was told that the guards had heard of my misdeeds. Now being that i am a chaotic good elven ranger my slate is clean and have never commited a crime! Are the guards called on me because i have Valygar in my party?

It's nothing to do with Valygar. I've had him in my party numerous times and never had any problems, even when taking him into the Council building in the government district.

You haven't by any chance been to the Windspear Hills WITHOUT talking to Garren in his home have you? I did that once, and I got into some trouble every time I went back to town...
