This is the message I get from npc's innkeepers etc. It happened every now and then at early stages, but now (just entered the underdark) I get it all the time. I used to be able to rest and then return and everything would work as intended, but now I can rest over and over, come back and they still "appear to be busy".

that is a fairly common problem on xp computers, and it should be resolved by installing the official patch.

Sometimes shutting the game down and restarting seems to help.

save-reload

I have the problem (xp machine) but a save/reload usually fixes it in 2 or 3 goes.
