I am having trouble with collecting drowner tongues. I have read the book, Swamp monsters, I have the entry for Drowners in my journal, and have entry for drowner's tongues in ingred. list. But when I kill a drowner, I do not get the tongue? Help please.

I haven't played for quite some time but it could possibly be that a tongue is a random chance. So if you kill just 1 drowner you might not get a tongue. You are correct that you need to have drowners in your journal or whatever either by talking to wise women or by reading a book.

Another thought is that I think there were a few different types of monsters that look like drowners but maybe some species have different drops?

Try hanging by the river and killing about 20 drownerish beings and then see if you don't get a tongue or 10?

Most creatures have a rare drop, and the tongue is probably the rare drop for drowners. Why are you looking for it?

Doesn't the tongue drop from the 'drowned dead' ie the upgraded drowners?

For the guy who has problem with the drowner tongues !!!!!

When I took this game first time I have chosen the medium level dificulty and when Siegfried gave me the quest for the dead drowner tongues I couldn't find them at all during the game, so in my opinion THIS QUEST had some sort of an ERROR !!!!! that that time I played the game !!!!!
But when I started the game for the second time I have chosen EASY level of dificulty and when I got to that part everything was normal when I killed first dead drowner I got his tongue with no problem... So to be precise, in my opinion sometimes you can find the tongues and sometimes you cannot.....
I hope this will be useful to somebody sometime !!!!!

Well, I played the Witcher on medium difficulty a while ago but was able to get Drowned Dead tongues pretty easily, though random. Just have to constantly fight them until they drop it.

Never had problems getting Drowned Dead tounges on any difficulty setting....?
Just make sure you are killing the right type of monsters and have knowledge of them - and they should drop often enough, lest you are really unlucky.

As already said, check your journal for drowned dead entry. The dwarven bookseller in the market has the book you need if you haven't read it yet.

i play E.E in hardcore mode.
It is always a horde of enemy attack me.
It is very hard to survive, but it is easy to get any ingreds.

I am sure if you read the right book, and slay the right monsters
all of them will drop the right material you want.

I have played 2 times and got more tongues than i knew what to do with
Its been aa while but dont drowners and drowned dead have slightly different tonuges.
You have got to be missing a book or have you alrerady got the quest for them

Drowners drop brains, Drowned Dead drop tongues.

Unless you spend an experience point for the Ingredient Extraction skill under Intelligence, picking up items from monsters is purely random. Sometimes you'll get a body part, sometimes you won't. Even if you have that item listed in your knowledge inventory.
