"Total Recall"
In both, there's a bad guy who loses his memory, fights for good, and (at least in my games) when he finally realizes who he really is, still decides to be a good guy and save the day.
One could consider the Jedi Order to be the Resistance, and both have a female staying very close to the protagonist, keeping a close eye on him.

Well, to be honest, there are often similarities between movies and games (or books). Especially in these kind of stories. I mean, Kotor is fun and all and I like the story, but just to say it isn't very complicated. The details are most of the time different. And if they aren't, then you can actually speak of plagiarism (not that you said that). These kind of stories mostly go way back to some greek tragedy, roman tale, a fable or a story à la William Shakespeare.
But I know how you feel. I found it fun to see similarities in games and books. For me it was between Morrowind and Dune (the book or movie).

Well, the main reason that there are so many similarities between a movie and a game from the same universe is probably that both take place in the same universe. But that´s my theory...

Do you mean with same universe the same technology? Because I'm pretty sure Total recal is way in the future and star wars is 'a long time ago in a galaxie far far away'. The story of KOTOR could have been done with swords and shields, only with a few other details. You wouldn't even need the force, because in the end you can count that with the details. The 'universe' can be replaced by anything else. You could say these stories have a lot of the old folk tales.
