Can't Cross the gap! *spoiler*

In The Great Gate quest in the main quest i cannot make the first gap and i just miss it but due to how the game doesn't truly simulate real life I miss the gap by a millimeter. Having my feet touch the end of the bridge only to slid off. I am jumping from the longest part of the side of bridge that I am on.
Can anyone help me?

Hm... I would just jump as far as you can (not on to the bridge) and when you fall in the lava just swim over to the other side constantly drinking healing potions until you get there.

Another suggestion:
Make a Fortify Acrobatics spell, the magnitude should be no less than 100, but the duration can be adjusted to just a few seconds to suit/match your rank in Restoration

Now I was thinking that, But I didn't know if your aloud to get out of the great gate once you enter. And you need to go to the mages guild or frostcrag spire to make spells.

No you can't exit, well you can literally I suspect but you would blow the quest as it is on a timer once you enter.
I suspect you are using the walkthrough on this site, bad idea, read
this one instead.
