I've noticed that in the two times I've played through Baldur's Gate, I always choose to kill Reiltar and co. when confronted by them in candlekeep. For me, it's an obvious RP choice; killing the people that have inflicted an enormous amount of strife on the region and yourself. It seems the game sort of assumes that you were framed by Sarevok, so I was just wondering what everyone here does when presented with this choice. Revenge or restraint?

The first couple times I played, I avoided killing them. The third time I got there, I talked to them, then left. I almost made it to the fifth floor when I decided to go back and slaughter them. After all, if I'm going to get blamed for it, I might as well have the fun, right? :D

err, this should probably have been spoiler tagged. my b.

I guess it comes down to lawful/chaotic instincts. I also kinda find it funny when various npc's bring up the incident, ask you if you did it, and then give you the "killing is wrong" lecture. seems pretty ironic.

The sick joke is that if you don't kill them they don't die at all. It really annoys me that you can't do anything to the ruler of Candlekeep, who is obviously in Sarevok's employ!

When I first played the game I killed them, but I didn't have much of a grasp of alignments back then.
These days it's restraint, can do no less as a paladin.

Sometimes it just doesn't pay to be lawful good :(
