I'm going through the game the 2nd time around. The 1st time I solo'd the game without too much problems a fighter/thief. This time I'm playing BG Tutu with a party and I cant seem to get through this one part. I'm fighting this real piece of **** named Taugosz Khosann. He has like a friggin army of arhcers with him and they keep killing my party. I'm a blade, and i have Kagain, Kivan as an archer and imoen as a thief. Taugosz by the way is impossible to hit. He cant be beaten. Why is this game so hard, they seem to not want you to complete the game.

Any advice?

Check your difficulty setting. Also, use magic, as it almost always hits. As a Blade, you should be able to use many wands, which are almost overpowered in BG1 and there's plenty of them scattered around.

Believe it or not I managed to get lucky with my party. I managed to lure just him over to my party. All the other times the bandits followed him over. Kagain almost died, but i took him out. He has to be one of the hardest mini-bosses in the beginning of the game. I can't be the only person to think that.

Anyway, thanks for the advice. The only other thing I will say is hit and run tactics with a bow has got to be your best bet in the first game.

I never use ranged weapons as a bard, more so when I solo. If anything, in the first game, most of my damage and offensive abilities come from wands, or magic.

I don't remember how hard he was the first time I went against him (too many years ago :D ) but this last time, he was extraordinarily easy. I did almost every other quest I could before going there, so my party members were all of a relatively high level. That may be why I walked through that encounter.

Did you rush there as fast as you could?

I remember it being tough the first time, Died initially as I recall, won the reload.

I've just come through there again, and found it straightforward, but of course better prepared. Sixth level Sorc as th main character, 5th level Kagain (Berserker), 7th Level Imoen (Swashbuckler) and 5th Level Viconia.

Found the area myself rather than 'joining up', meléed Taugosz Khosann with Kagain, Arrows from Imoen, Bullets from Vici. Started the ball rolling with a fireball, then followed up (the key) with Glitter Dust, every opponent blinded, game over. Kagain never got hit once, neither did anyone else!

I'll regret using a slot on Glitterdust half-way through SoA, but in BG1 it's lethal.

Last time I did it I charmed him whilst he was still friendly with the cloak of Algernon and set him onto Tazok. I kept everyone except my thief out of the picture. It's good to ring the changes regarding method but there are many many ways.

The answer to your Taugosz Khosann problem is simple. It's called "Potion of Absorption". Just drink it and lure the brute to follow you. The potion gives you +10 AC bonus against crushing attacks and renders his mighty hammer useless, as long as he attacks your buffed character. Use the rest of the party to take him down with ranged weapons. Piece of cake, you shouldn't loose even a single hit point.
