Companions Invulnerable? probable bug

anyone ever experience having your companions suddenly invulnerable? happened to me in the house of the noble full of thugs in part I.
Seemed to happen when I had the druid summon her animal companion. I had never done that before. It does not seem to be a spell or equipment. None of my companions save my own character can be harmed.
Its kinda a bummer.
Any help would be appreciated.
