Need an Extra Fighter, Any Suggestions?

I have a problem that I need help with. Maybe someone can give me a suggestion. So far I just got done with act3: the bandit camp. I had a 4man party. I'm a thief, Imoen is a thief which I will dual over to a mage at lvl 5, Kagain is my one fighter, and Shar-Teel is my 2nd fighter. I'm having a fun time with the game so far; the only problem is that Kagain keeps leaving the party. I'm guessing that he left because I didn't complete that stupid caravan quest of his. But what sucks is that he's gone for good. The problem is that I most definitely am going to need one fighter to take his place. Because sarevok is just too hard to fight with just one fighter, plus shar-teel doesn't have a lot of life. She will go down fast, I just know it.

So the question is who do I get to replace him, any suggestions?

If I were you, I'd pick up a bard for area of affect goodness with the usage of wands, but since you want a fighter I suggest either Yeslick (a dwarf fighter/cleric) as you're lacking in the dive spells area or Coran, who is a great archer with an amazing twenty dexterity. Both are good, but I never foud fighters to be of use in that battle. If anything, thieves (and bards) are perhaps the most useful there due to their backstabbing ability.

There's no need for reinforcements, Sarevok is even beatable by a solo thief. I recommend just to continue with the game instead of starting a big search, there are four joinable NPCs in chapter 4. A cleric would help your party more than a fighter btw.

Thanks for the advice both of you. Kmonster, you said that I could beat sarevok without any reinforcements, or just as a solo thief. What I wanna know is how. Not to be blunt, but I tried tanking sarevok with a Fighter/thief the first game and he wiped the floor with me. I had to use the hide, backstab, repeat method. What other tactic would you use to take him out, besides that tactic I just mentioned. *SPOILER AHEAD*

Keep in mind that he also has two mages, and Tazok as another tank. I'm not trying to look on it with despair, but I will admit, I have problems fighting mages in the first game.

If, as your party composition indicates, your only interested in evil characters then there are no other evil fighters avaiable.

Alignment aside, apart from the the characters a;ready mentioned then there are also Kivan and Minsc.

As for Kagain leaving, that puzzles me if it's because of his quest, as his quest is virtually non-existent. All you have to do is visit the area north of Beregost and he announces he's giving up on the caravan, quest ended!

The only other reason for him to leave is that he dislikes how high your reputation has got, and if he's left because of that, then Shar-Teel is likely to walk as well.

I just got Kivan, thanks again for your help. He may not be that great of a fighter as much as he is a great archer, but he will have to do. Other than that, I really dont know why Kagain left the party.

The tactic you described is the best way to do it. Buff up on Potions of Power and go right ahead. You only need to kill Sarevok. Your non thief characters are best used for capturing Semaj and Tazok's attention.
