wheres raw ebony

im on the third quest for the thieves guild i think and im supposed to find raw ebony is there anyplace i can get it free

You can find raw ebony in the Caldera Mines west of Caldera. There are purplish stones inside the mine. Interact woth these and voila! raw ebony! Just be careful, you have to sneak while getting those. Nobody's supposed to see or notice you stealing them. [All raw ebony is the Emperor's blah blah]

Also, the Vassir-Didanat Mine South-West of Balmora also has raw ebony. Just follow the course of the Odai river southa and cross the bridge. The mine is nestled in between mountains.
