Howdy folks,

I'm trying to run bloodlines, but whenever I try it starts to load, and then a message comes up: "Vampire: Bloodlines has stopped working, and needs to close."

I downloaded it from direct2drive, and have run it on another computer without any problem. I suspect that it may have something to do with VISTA, but I have tried running it in compatibility mode with no luck. In any case these are my computer specs:

Manufacturer: Sony
Model: VAIO
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T550 @ 1.83GHz
RAM: 2.00 GB
System Type: 32-bit

Graphics
Processor: Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator
X3100 with Total Available Graphics Memory of 358MB
(max.)
Chipset: Mobile Intel® GM965 Express Chipset
Interface: VGA Out with Smart Display Sensor

Any and all help would be appreciated.

I've had a similar problem with a different game, and I couldn't find the solution, although I also suspect Vista. However, if I tried over and over for a few times, closing the "stopped working" message when it appeared, and restarting, it would eventually work. I have no clue if this would work for Bloodlines, and I still have no idea what the original problem is, but I thought I'd share anyway as, if it works, you'll at least be able to play.

Also, it would help to have a bit more info on your computer, such as your video card, as perhaps you don't meet specs? It does sound like a Vista thing, though...

Anyway, sorry I couldn't be more help, hope you get lucky and that trick works for Bloodlines. Best of luck,

EDIT: Did a brief google search of the issue out of curiosity. Most of the advice was the same: XP Compatibility Mode, Run as Admin, patch the game, and prey. (Heh, see what I did there? )

Here's two of the more specific answers I found on the internets, though. They're by random people but were detailed, which means they might know something. :p Try them if you want, and, again, good luck:

"Before you start the game, right click your desktop and change your screen resolution to 1024×768. Start up the game (if it still doesn't work properly, the the game settings might be 800x600, change it). When you've finished playing, just change it back."

"disable UserAccountControl then
"Right click" the "Vampire.exe"
go to "properties"
Compatibility TAB
Check XP service pack 2 box
Check the disable desktop composition box
Check the Disable high DPI box then
then check run as administrator (if its not grayed out)"

I saw a few other posts related to the resolution, sounds like that might be part of the problem. I suggest you at least try that fix.

Hey, thanks for the advice and doing the extra googling. Tried it all and no luck, but I appreciate the effort.
