Advice on party member.

I am starting over with some NPCs I have never used before and some I have changed their classes via GK. I have 5 including myself and I am having difficulty choosing the 6th. I like a full party so would really like to have a 6th member who isn't useless. Here is my party:

1) me- thief
2) Immie- thief>Conjurer
3) Kivan- ranger
4) Garrick- fighter
5) Branwen- cleric

Any thoughts?

Any non-evil character who isn't a pure thief or mage would add power to your party, Ajantis-Jaheira-Faldorn-Yeslick-Minsc-Coran are some of them, but you could also just play a party of five.
I guess you already know that your character is the party's weak spot, starting with 3 fighter levels would make him far more powerful.

He is a halfling and I didn't want to multi-class. He seems to be holding his own pretty well so far. I am tired of Jaheira and Minsc so I will probably go with Ajantis.

Ajantis is very powerfull once you give him the gauntlets of dex 18. Togheter with kivan you can have an unstoppable team.

Garrick- fighter

You do know that Garrick is a bard right?

Your party should get through the game easy with that many fighter classes.

He did mention that he had changed some classes, presumably that's one of them.

I used Gatekeeper to change Garrick to a fighter. I will probably switch Branwen to fighter>cleric maybe at 3rd level... I may switch my halfling from thief to fighter/thief at dual immie at 2nd level to mage and give her all the lock picking skills leaving my halfling to stealth.
