Enhanced version unplayable?

I have downloaded apparently successfully the enhanced version and initially it ran OK, although loading times still a bit slow. However, lately it is taking over 5 minutesto load the initial aved game and when it does load the animation is so slow and unresponsive as to make the game unplayable. It seemed to get worse once I got into chapter 3, where I am now.

My computer has an Intel Dual Core 1.86 GHz (each) processor, 2.0 GB RAM and the video card is Radeon X1300.

Any ideas anyone? All suggestions gratefully received.

Chapter 3 has always been the worst as far as slow-down and stuttering because of the all the townsfolk.

I get about 5 seconds of really bad slow-down after loading a game, as if the game is still loading something, but then it's gone. This might be an EE issue.

If you haven't, try turning all the graphical settings to low. It shouldn't take more than a minute or two to load a saved game, since all your specs seem good, except I THINK that the Witcher doesn't take advantage of dual core processing - only one at a time, which might explain the slowdown.

Thanks for you commnts. I have turned down all video features but no diffrerence. Just to give an idea, it just took 2mins 30 secs just to get out of Triss's house !

Sadly, life is too short - a great game but (for me anyway) unplayable.

Chapter V is bad too, with the endless Order vs. Squirrel battle. Save often, it's very annoying to fight your way through a mess of them and then crash. At least it eases up when you progress your faction quest.
