Image freezes

Hi everyone!
Im having a quite annoying bug :S Often when im being attacked, getting struck makes the image freeze! The game still goes on, i can hear that im still being attacked and my health bar keeps dropping, but as said everything but the health/mana/fatique bar and the compas freezes! And it really hard to fight when you cant see whats going on and its no way to play. Minimizing and then maximizing the game makes the freeze go away but as you are being hit several times during combat it dosnt seem as a good way around this problem... Any help to solve this would be nice!

First, is your comp up to minimum specs?
Have you got plenty of memory free?
Have you got a lot of Mods?
Do you have the Grass on?
It might be worth while to turn some options to OFF to see if that helps.
My comp is better than minimum, but not up to optimum for the game, and sometimes when there are a lot of things going on - like spells flying around and other activity as well - my game freezes too; sometimes only for seconds, sometimes to crash. But so far I've not had it freeze my char while not freezing everything else as well.

Well my comp should handle the game quite well
Intel duo core 2 2,13 GHz
2 Gb kingston ram
Gforce 8800 GTX 640 mb
200 Gb space to spare
Im running the game at top graphics with grass and all and it run smoothly exept the occasional freeze
And no I dont use any mods at all, im not running with SI, but I do have the latest patch for the original Oblivion

Ok. So... did you defrag before installing? Oblivion doesn't handle fragmentation very well.
And have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling (keeping your save games, naturally). It might be a fault in installation; I've had that happen sometimes, though not with Oblivion.
If neither of those suggestions helps, you'll have to wait for someone else to notice this thread, 'cos I've shot my bolt! I'm not really techi enough, I'm afraid!

You have a very similar system to mine, in fact your graphics card is slightly better.
I don't generally have any problems running the game, in fact it is nice and smooth. But, I did turn the grass off after some lagging and freezing.
What I should ask though, is which OS you are running. There is a big difference between XP and Vista with that set up, because Vista requires much more RAM. I have also heard that Oblivion can be somewhat buggy with Vista (I have XP), so if you have Vista you may want to check out that avenue too.
