One of my favorite aspects of this game is how they sneak in a bunch of pop culture references. I think it would be cool to keep a running tab of the stuff they threw into Fable 2. Here is what I've got so far:

- Karen the Jeweler in Bower Market sells a potion called "Love Potion 9.042". The name is a reference to the the 1959 #1 hit by The Clovers, "Love Potion #9". In the item description, it reads "60% of the time, it works every time." This is a reference to cologne named Sex Panther that Brian (Paul Rudd's character) put on in the movie Anchorman (Burgandy: I'm gonna be honest with you Brian, that smells like pure gasoline.)

- In the description for the ballroom mask, it reads that it's good for "standing on the sidelines during secret orgies. Just remember to keep your eyes wide open." Tom Cruise wore a ballroom mask when he ended up at the orgy (well, more like a strange erotic ritual) in Stanley Kubrick's final film, Eyes Wide Shut.

- The description for the soylent dye (which is green in color) reads that the color "varies from person to person." This is a reference to the movie Soylent Green.

- There is a Monty Python sounding character before starting the crucible.

I'll keep posting as I find em, but feel free to add to this list.

Haha, I liked the Soylent Green one. Me and my friend coop'ed the Crucible, but which guy was Monty Python like?

I thought the guy with the book did a little, but on a second listen, ehhhhh. Maybe not.

Ok, a couple more:

- There is an alcoholic beverage named "Hoptimus Prime". (named after Optimus Prime, from transformers)

- This one is a bit obscure because it's not really pop culture, but it is interesting. There is a java brew potion called "Mustela" that is the best in the game. In the description, it says that the brew is made when the beans are eaten and enhanced by digestive enzymes when it passes through the digestive tract of the Samarkandian Weasel. It sounds weird, a bit disgusting, and somewhat ridiculous, but it is in fact based in reality. There is a type of coffee known as Kopi Luwak. The coffee is made from the beans that are passed through the digestive tract of the Asian Palm Civet (a type of monkey). The beans are enhanced by the digestive enzymes, and the coffee that is produced from them is often considered to be the richest in the world. In addition, there is coffee made in a similar way in Vietnam from beans that are regurgitated by certain kinds of weasels that live there.

someone on gamefaqs was going off on the first "giles farm" quest. evidently, it is a buffy the vampire slayer reference. giles is buffy's watcher and there was any enemy with the same name, blah. i'm sure someone knows better.

There is a reason for that. See, Reaver is voiced by Stephen Fry. And as a wedding present, Stephen Fry gave Prince Charles (most likely, the next King of England) some of that exact coffee. And that's why it was in Reaver's back passage (possibly a reference to Fry's sexuality).

No, Giles Farm Equipment is a famous brand. I suspect the humor was that of a realworld brand intruding on the game.

Giles' son is called Rupert. The Buffy character is called Rupert Giles.

I know what he's saying. But if it's a "Giles Farm quest," then the obvious realworld analogy is to the popular line of Giles Farm equipment, and it's right there in the words. Now, if the game works in somebody owning that specific quest item named Rupert, or Buffy, or Xander, etc, or if the location was surrounded by very obvious willow trees, I would agree with you.

Kopi Luwak (May contain movie spoilers)

Pop culture reference for Kopi Luwak. This does not spoil any of the movie mentioned (The Bucket List) but it does mention some of the dialog at key points in the movie. highlight to read spoiler

In the movie "The Bucket List" with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, the Jack Nicholson character is a super rich guy with cancer. The type of coffee his character drinks is Kopi Luwak, and during the whole movie the Morgan Freeman character keeps telling the Jack Nicholson that the Kopi Luwak must be bad for him somehow. At the end of the movie the Morgan Freeman Character informs the Jack Nicholson character of how Kopi Luwak is made.

hoptimus prime is actually a real beer pretty decent too it you like ipa's

you all forgot the black knight achievement (holy grail)

also in the loading screens there is a quote saying something about how the sandgoose is in fact real...and it serves nice wine in oakfield, i laughed once i remembered all the threads about whether or not it was really in the original haha
