I was just curious about small weapons.. for some reason I remember something said in the prologue about finding a knife or something to skin beasts/the frightner.. Does it matter if I have a small weapon equipped when trying to get remains from beasts.. Will I get more or better? also, if they are not used with witcher fighting styles.. whats the point of even having them? Are they really ever used? Same with the larger weapons? Thanks...

You don't actually need a knife or weapon to skin beasts. Small and heavy weapons often have a high chance for critical effects like poison, pain, bleeding, disarm, etc. but I never used them, just sold them for cash. Not really. You can still skin beasts without a small knife. It's more like an alternative way of saying, "click on an animal and you'll automatically extract stuff from it."

As what flix had mentioned, for selling. I usually just dump them at the inn and sell them for later.

Small weapon slot I just sell whenever I have a small weapon and I pass the blacksmith.

You can carry an alternate witcher sword in your large extra weapon slot...say one loaded with precise strike for group and one loaded with damage and bleeding for heavy. The problem is if you get a quest that replaces your large extra weapon slot!
