Bravo!

I just finished the game and I have to say Bravo! to the developers. I enjoyed the game very much. I would put it up there in my top 10 RPG games of all time. It was nice to have a different kind of RPG (with drinking, gambling and of course the women). It gave it a more realistic feel to the game for me. Most games you are either a saint who recues kittens from trees or the devil himself killing everyone in site. I liked being neutral just out for yourself and having a good time doing it. What really surprised me was that I was able to play the game without patching it! This is a remarkable feat for a modern day RPG. To patch NWN2 takes as long as it does to load the game.

Some comments on things that I have read in other posts on this forum ( I waited until I finished the game to make comments). I did not have a problem with load times. Seemed to be about the same as NWN2 or Oblivion but I have a pretty good build. The cut-scenes also did not bother me, they seemed to help the game along and even had some pretty cool fight scenes and we should be used to this kind of stuff from NWN2 and others. I also enjoyed the fact that you don't have to press multiple buttons to pull of a cool move, I am an older gamer and was not raised with Nintendo so my hands don't move like that (I've been playing computer based RPG games since '82, before graphics!). I don't think that there is any game that every gamer likes (although an argument for the BG series could be made) so I respect those people who did not like The Witcher. I myself only play fantasy D&D type games (so no KOTOR or Fallout for me even though most people say they are great). In synopsis I cannot wait for a sequel that the ending obviosly eludes to.

If you didn't need a patch, I take it you were playing the Enhanced Edition. Load times under the EE were drastically reduced from those of the original release, which generated most of the complaints. Leaving a house went from taking 2 minutes to 5 seconds max. Loading a save or entering a new region never took more than 1 minute in the EE, whereas god knows how bad it was in the original release.

I was worried at first when I read about the combat system, but I love it. It's far superior to constantly holding the left mouse button down as in dungeon crawlers (and don't get me started on games that require mouse+plus keyboard just to move around - ugh).

The game's in my top 3.
