Is the car really worth the $4000 it's going to cost me? I seem to get from location to location just fine without it.....what added value could it have??

Well, it gets you to places faster, with, I think, reduced chance of hostile encounters, not to mention it's essentially portable storage space.

If I recall correctly, four thousand was not that much to spend, not to mention that most of the items you need, you can probably find during your travels.

Also you'll get a quest in New Reno if you enter it with your car. And in Brocken Hills there is a little, er, encounter with a ghoul :)
Yeah, and it has a really cool engine-starting sound :)

I thought it was $2100, I personally buy the car yet use it solely for its bugged trunk.

Nah, if patched the trunk is no longer an issue. Car is a good thing to have if your PC is low level, you avoid things, but the trade off is that you can miss Random Encounters. My advice is get car as fast as possible, level up, get gauss rifle, ammo and vua'la, go seek RE.

No patch fixes the car completely. With 1.05 patch, the possibly of it getting bugged is small, but it's still possible. Casual gamers who play the game about 1-5 times before forfeiting it completely won't probably notice any bugs, but those of us, like me, who play it again and again and againn will get minor bugs at times.

For example, I complete it at least twice every month, and I could estimate that every second month I get a bug with the car. Last time, three days ago, and I had patched it up to 1.05 with Killap's restoration project.

Yes, call me a Fallout maniac :D
