Eldritch Knight and Arcane Archer?

I was thinking about this too. Take an elf Wizard until level 6 then take the Eldritch Knight class until 10. You get more spells as you level with the Eldritch too.
Then after level 10 take the Arcane Archer until level 10 so I guess you get 10/10/10. Would this be a good idea? I know that the Eldritch only does Melee really so maybe not? But the extra spells are good, plus it gives you the needed +6 attack bonus for the Archer like you need. And I figure it's a good balance? Ranged, Melee and spells. I know the point blank shot takes care of the melee really. But it seems like it would be fun to play. Help me out guys and shed a little light maybe?

It would be a good idea to take 1-2 level of fighter to give you a free feat you can use on your archery, because having a caster/warrior your going to need feats to support both. Also you need martial weapons to take Eldritch Knight which would otherwise put you in the hole another feat.
I tried making such a build but eventually decided that archery was pretty underpowered in this setting.

Yeah, I kind of tried it with MotB and I ended up with Wiz-6 EK-10 and AA-2 which didn't seem too bad. I don't know though I took the EK first and the first feat I got as martial. And then I got my other feats until level 6 which is when you can take the EK class with level 3 spells. So you don't miss out that much on feats, and with the EK you can still get your weapon focus longbow and point blank shot. And then still get the other feats as well. But I see your point it might be better to take some Pale Master levels or maybe the Arcane Scholar? Or the Harper Agent? Would those be good ideas? Sorry I keep asking these annoying noob questions. I've never been that savy of D&D rules until recently, and I'm not that educated really. I've got ideas, I'm just not sure if they're good ones.

depends on can you fit it all in 1 F gives you martial + a feat. some of those other options open up skills but say Harper agent you don't get a caster level at first so no dice
maybe a rogue level to open tumble rather than harper agent but that expensive in feats.
try a build and I'll comment. A full build.

Full build meaning go all 30 levels and list spells/feats and all that good stuff? Ok then I'll work on that. I'm about to get Storm on Zehir pretty soon, and that game features party creation right? So that mean I can try several different ideas at once.
I'm excited.
