How can I reform my party members, how can I send them away?

I think it has to be done at an inn, at least in the Original Campaign.

Are you asking for SoZ? At an inn within any town (so far as I've come across) there is an item called the "Guestbook", similar to the one on the ship at the beginning of the game, where you can change your party members. You can also swap out which cohort (NPC) you have with you.
