...concerning magic defense:

there are several different magical defense effects available:

- shield
- protection (elemental)
- elemental shield
- protectection (magic)
- absorb magic
- reflect magic

my impression is, that the effects work that way:

- shield: just increase your armor class by x points (x=%)

- protection (elemental): reduces the elemental damage by x%

- elemental shield:
works like a combination of shield and elemental protection -> increase armor class by x AND reduces the elemental damage by x% - and is for this reason by far better then the single effects!

- protection (magic):
gives you an x% chance to avoid the magical effect completly => also for elemental effects or does it work like protection elemental?

- absorb magic:
=> gives you x% magicka from each spell that hits you (also area effects?)
=> or gives you a x% chance to absorb all magicka from a spell that hits you?

- reflect magic:
x% chance that a spell gets reflected
=> all effects?
=> full damage?
=> does a reflected spells still harm yourself?

Combined effects:

- if you have 100% magic defense - do you still need any elemental protection?
=> my impression is "no"

- 100% magic defense AND 50% absorb - does absorb still work?
=> my impression is "yes"

- 100% magic defense AND 50% reflect - does reflect still work?
=> my impression is "yes"

- 100% reflect AND 50% absorb - does absorb still work?
=> no idea!

Effects on Sigil Stones:

are there any Sigil Stones with the following effects:

- reflect magic?
- reflect damage?
- absorb magic?

"protection (magic)"
Avoid all magical effects (elements, silence,...all) completely (at 100% of course), but do mind that pesky Weakness to <xxxxx>.

absorb magic
It's fun to do a test play:
-AoE: absorbable
-Gives x% chance to absorb all the magicka required to cast the absorbed spell

reflect magic
-yes
-yes (get to 100% and see for yourself)
-You shot a Lich --> your spell get reflected --> your spell will harm you (because you can't reflect a reflected spell)

Combined effects: ???

Effects on Sigil Stones
-No
-No
-Yes, up to 15 pts (in this case: PercenTageS)

Combined effects: ???

If you have both effects active:

e.g. 100% protection magic: means you won't be affected by any magic effects...

...and also have an effect like e.g. 50% absorb magic, 50% reflect magic or both active...

...can you reflect or absorb spells, that have no effect on you cause you are completly protected against?

Actually, the "???" doesn't mean that your questions are unclear...
It means that I am not 100% sure :D

And I want to give you an additional note that you can't arrange your books with Telekinesis when you have 100% Spell Absorption, don't know why though

Note that there is a difference between Absorb Magicka and Spell Absorbtion. Absorb Magicka steals magicka from the target, so a spell that absorbs 20 points of magicka wil reduce the target's magicka by 20 points, and increase the caster's by 20. The target must have magicka for this effect to work

Spell absorbtion absorbs spells cast at the target (usually yourself), the magnitude representing the percentage of the spell that will be absorbed. Interesting to note that this works on traps and the like too.

There's one variety of Sigil stone that grants Absorb Magicka to a weapon, it starts as 10 and goes up to 50 at max level (17).

Another variety grants spell absorbtion to armour or jewelry, this starts at 7% and (as MD noted) goes up to 15% at max level.

Also there are two types of stone which grants magic resistance, from 5% to 20%.

As Master David stated, there are no Sigil Stones that reflect damage or spells

And Absorb Magicka is useless as a spell,
but it's a different story when attached to a melee weapon

Complete the enchantment with Absorb Health, and use this weapon when you need emergency supplies

I ment "Spell Absorbtion" - sorry for being unclear...

...hmmm...-...so with "Spell Absorbtion" you always get your share of the initial magicka costs?

...does this also work with enchanted weapons?

...and does magic defense also stops effects from enchanted weapons?

...and can you absorb more magicka from enemies than they should have?

...btw. do enemies have a correctly calculated magicka account?

1 pts = 1%
2 pts = 2%
And so on

Yes, this works with enchanted weapons

Yes, basically it's the thing that you should searching, above the other magic defense (Spell Absorption is rather impractical in my opinion, because you'll often equip and unequip it when you want to be cured in the Wayshrines)

In case of Spell Absorption, you don't absorb your enemies' magicka points, you absorb the spell itself. So if the enemy can't cast the spell, then what will you absorb?

If you're asking about Absorb Magicka....well how can you know the enemies' remaining magicka points?

Yes they do have a correctly calculated magicka points (look it in the CS and enable Auto-Calculate), but I don't have any idea how to see it in game

absorb magicka - no you can't see it, but you might guess...

...caster will certainly have a good amount at the beginning - fighter not...

...and if magicka is calculated correctly, absorb magicka will hurt caster in two ways!

Well, yes
But it cannot be precise

Two ways?
What are they?

Selfishness rules :mischief: (more if you combine it with Silence)

It's indeed better than just draining their mp
