This is always a grey area..
I know DUHM, DBFB spells continue to scale up to lvl30. Other spells? What about spell DC. Is it still +1/lvl? In nwn iirc the progression slowed to 1/3lvl. but so did BAB.. Number of spells same on lvl20 and lvl30? (ok i see number of spells keeps growing up to lvl30). Spell durations?

DCs shouldn't increase with level. Only caster level does. So some spells might do more damage, last longer, have a better chance to get through SR, are harder to dispel.

I see. After browsing through game files it appears there is no unspoken lvl20 cap. All arcane and divine spells continue to grow all the way up to lvl30. Unless specified in the description. For example Magic missile says it caps at lvl9. and it does. Shocking Grasp's desc. says nothing. And it scales up to lvl30.
However, due to the nature of summon spells, they do cap at specific levels(stopping to summon more powerful creatures). Which are
Giant Vermin lvl15
Shadow Conjuration lvl27
Spider Spawn lvl12
Animate Dead lvl9
Summon Shadow lvl21
Greater Shadow Conjuration lvl27
Shades lvl27

There is a second version of animate dead which caps at lvl17, seems like it is an unnerved pre-2.01 patch version.

In P&P rules, Shocking Grasp caps at lvl 5, for 5d6 damage. I assume this is the case here too?

IWD2 shocking grasp is 1d8 +1/caster lvl, up to 31-38 damage at lvl30. Quite remarkable for a lvl1 spell. Plus bonus from potential Scion of Storms. 38*1.2=45 damage. Here is me doing 44dmg.

Personally i would say that a touch(wizard AB) melee(killzone) elemental(resistable) spell doing same damage as Magic missile, which is a ranged, magic, nosave spell, is a waste of space. In PnP it is probably designed for lowlvl campaigns, like max lvl10 maybe.

In P&P, I use my Wizard 1st lvl slots for Sleep and Grease. A lot more powerful than Magic Missile.
