100% football talk here. And I'm not talking about "American" football......this is the "real" thing.....
That means that I don't want to see any 49'ers, Chiefs, Packers, Ravens etc in here........
Here we can discuss everything that has to do with football.....
Great matches of the past, different teams and players.....and so on.....
Start off by posting a short football bio of yourself.
Here's mine:
2 Favourite players:
Christian Karembeu, Clarence Seedorf
2 Favourite teams:
Middlesbrough, Sampdoria
2 Favourite football moments:
1) Swedens bronze medal in World Cup in U.S.A 1994 (Great summer, I was only 14 at the time but I can still remember all the matches on TV as if it was yesterday)
Big moment for such a "small" country.....
2) IFK Gothenburg vs Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League. My first really "big" match that I saw from the stands.
Lovely atmosphere and IFK Gothenburg won with 3-1. Jesper Blomqvist scored two goals....
Best football film:
Escape to glory
Best football computer Game:
FIFA 2001....I guess next year I'll have to change that to FIFA 2002..
Some questions for the Dutch football fans:
How are Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Clarence Seedorf doing???? Haven't heard anything about them for a long while......

Fallout, Galatasaray winning the UEFA Cup sure shows that Turkish football is to be reckoned with......
Did you see the European Super Cup Final between Galatasaray and Real Madrid......great game....especially liked the way that George Hagi made a fool out of Roberto Carlos.....

Mr Sleep, seeing the favourite players you have one could think that Barcelona would be one of your favourite teams....or at least used to be.....

What can i say about Hagi. He is a unusual player with that age. But todays he lost his balance. Example Couch Lecescu changes another player but he leave the feild.

I liked it when Barcelona actually had some Spanish players (i never supported them, just admiring from afar) Van Gaal came in and brought a bunch of Dutch players in, Ivan De La Pena made Ronaldo the player he was with his crisp perfect passing and Van Gaal booted him from the side, right about then i lost interest in Barcelona.

George Hagi was something extra......although his career on the International scene could have ended in a better way.....with the red card for "diving" against Italy in Euro 2000 and all.....that was sad......
I guess some players never learn....

Leedog....football has increased in popularity in the States......I guess the World Cup '94 contributed a lot to that.....
The league has a pretty high standard...(all the old European stars looking for some more cash before they end their careers)......
I don't know that much about football in U.S.A but I know there are a lot of good players playing there....Marco Etcheverry....Cobi Jones.....etc

Mr Sleep I know what you mean....it's like a Dutch colony...Barcelona. I think they had about 8-9 players from Holland at the same time......

Well being a dane, I must say that favorite player, dosen't play any more
Michael Laudrup.
Saying this, there are so many players that needs to be mentioned if I am to name if I should list them.
Favorite team - well, somehow, I've always like Wolverhampton, but I guess that it's because I won money on them
But I don't actually think I have any favorite teams that I support. It's more wich teams are playing eachother - and then picking my favorite from that

Are you genuinely a friend of Nicolas Mahlas or are you insulting our intelligence, he is a truly brilliant striker.

Not truly a "friend" we just had a couple of drinks together and had coffe some times too. Plus we used to go to the same club too (it is called Levare, in Iraklion). He grew up in Allikarnassos, which is a neighborhood in Iraklion Crete. He played footbal for the local team (OFI) all from the junior team to the 1st team. He is a ok guy too.
