Problem raising dead in Tutu

I'm using EasyTutu, and find that the Raise Dead spell, if bought, never works. I've tried it with two different priests: no luck. The spell is cast on the bundle of clothes for the dead person, with the icon turning yellow to indicate that was a party member, but nothing happens. Raising dead through a temple always works, however.
And yes, it's not just an elf this fails for: anybody who has died. I don't even get a message that it's failed. The spell is cast, and nothing happens. Has this happened to anybody else?

There shouldn't even be a bundle of clothes... so I am wondering: did you remove the party member in question from your party while in the temple? Because you shouldn't. The only way to make a raise dead work is by selecting the greyed out (dead) character, who is still in your party, and then purchasing the raise dead spell.
Does this help?

I can't recall ever succeeding in raising dead by casting the spell on the dead character's possessions whilst playing SoA or BG1 Tutu Fable. I've aways cast the spell on the portrait, unless of course they've been chunkified and the portrait disappears. Once that happens I've never found a way to bring them back, except by restoring a previous save.
Are you doing a no reload run through this time? If so I hope someone can come up with an answer for you.

Sure there should. If a party member is killed, you should find their garments and objects in a neat pile on the ground. Always happens.

I agree, which is another reason why this is odd. I currently can't cast it on a dead party member's portrait. The pointer doesn't turn gold. It does turn gold on the spot where all their items are: that's all. Yet the portrait remains.

No, thank all the gods, and then some.

I had to go back to a previous save. I considered using Shadowkeeper to deduct 20,000 gold from my party's inventory and giving them a PC a rod of resurrection. Still might. It's over the top and extraneous to BG1 and its add-on, but if I can't use Raise Dead scrolls I've purchased, it just might be the way to go when I'm not in an area with temples or high enough priests.

I've just had a look at the Raise Dead spell using IIE, and it definitely is not the same as the one in SoA, for some reason they've left a lot of efects out, including the removal of all shapchanging spells that the original spell has, and removing the effects of Spell Trigger and Sequencers. They've also used a different resource key. Not sure if any of these could be the cause of your problems, but if you could place a copy of the original spell file (SPPR504.SPL) in the Tutu Override folder that may help. I'd attach a zip of that file if I could, but my current internet access doesn't allow me to do that.

Good point, Galraen. It could just be that the BG2 engine is not recognizing the BG1 spell for Raise Dead. If a party member dies again, I'll save the current BG1 spell as an OLD file, and copy over the one you found in BG2. I'll report back if it works.

Tutu has it's own version of Raise dead, and it's that one I was referring to, if you look in the override folder you should see it there.

I meant Tutu, when I wrote BG1, above.

Note that I said "in the temple"

. I thought the raise dead spell could only be purchased in temples in BG1/Tutu. Apparently, we are talking about scrolls here. That makes sense. New ground for me!

No, you were right.

I purchased the Raise Dead scrolls in temples. They don't work, though--but the priests in the temples can raise the dead.
