Whips in the OC?

I'm wondering if it is possible to obtain a whip in the Original Campaign. I haven't played NWN too much and I never really bothered to look for them. I'm not sure if any of the merchants will add them to their inventories after HotU is installed, but perhaps there is the possibility of random loot? Also there is crafting. At a DC of 17 and with 'Oaken Weapon Grip' (Plank of Oak Wood, DC14) and 'Leather Strings' (Leather Hide, DC 11) I'm supposed to be able to create one, but I have yet to see any of those items early in. I don't think I have encountered any merchants that sell them either.
So it it possible to obtain a whip in the OC somehow?

whip in OC
In chapter 1, OC if you select weapon focus as whip then you should have at least 2 chances to get a +1 whip. First, in the peninsula prison and second against the Yuanti in beggar nest.

Thank you! I started playing a finesse Figher/BG/WM(whip) build today, but I wasn't up until now sure I would even be able to finish the OC with it. I thought I was just killing time.

The chest in the Peninsula gave me a +1 Longsword instead.
I guess whips aren't allowed.

re:whip
I have played with different weapons long sword, bastard sword, greatsword, greataxe, long bow, morning star, short sword, kukri, rapier but I haven't tried whip. So I can't be sure. But if you have as weapon focus both long sword and whip then you will get only long sword.

IIRC they didn't bother implement whips in the OC module at all.
Heck, they didn't even bother to add weapon focus/improved crit for Trident, although it exists.

I added a whip through the console instead. I had some fun disarming gang / pirate leaders (getting lots of attacks of opportunity on a tougher character is rewarding), but I felt bad about having to cheat in order to make my character viable. So I tossed it.

You should probably make another Indiana Tricky in HotU instead. Lots of good whips there.

Is a whip better at disarming?? Sounds interesting...I just thought it was one of those weapons that deals 1d2 damage..

You get the disarm feat for free if you equip one. It's not very realistic though. I think something like Turn Animal would have been better. Whips simply are crappy weapons.

re: whip
In OC and SoU, the choice of weapon is not easy because you can select it from many sources ( upgrade, random, merchants, weapon focus ), none of them is outstanding. This may be a good thing because it keeps you guessing.
However, in HotU the upgrade system through the smith Rizoli( is it his name?) will give you the best weapon. All you have to do is selecting the highest damage weapon suitable for your character.

In D&D, weapons that can wrap around opponents limbs -whip, flail, spiked chain etc.- give a +2 bonus to disarm checks, it is like they help to snatch the opponents weapon. The free disarm feat is because of this I guess.
