Weapon Master & Overwhelming Critical

I went in making a WM build with the thought that I'd be able to obtain Greater Cleave through the usual bonus feats once I became a Weapon Master (I'm playing an Elf who uses an exotic weapon, so that's plus two feats until I get the weapon specialization requirement for WM's). When I realized only fighters and rogues get bonus feats, I began considering how many levels that would take out of the WM at the beginning, because you NEED every first seven fighter levels to attain the WM prerequisites.

Then I had a better look at Whirlwind Attack and I realized this feat pretty much gives you constant cleave-attacks at no penalty. For a moment it seemed to me like that made the whole Power Attack/Cleave/Great Cleave tree obsolete. But then I had a better look at the epic feat I wanted to take, Overwhelming Critical, and noticed Great Cleave is actually a prerequisite of Overwhelming Critical. Ouch.

The Power Attack/Cleave/Greater Cleave tree would require an additional 6 or 7 fighter class levels. My question is this: is it worth losing out on that many WM class levels, just to get Overwhelming Critical?

overwhelming critical

You should get both overwhelming critical and devastating critical. Besides the feats you mentioned, they also require base strength of 23 and 25, so you want to plan ahead.

Besides WM, Champion of Torm also has the above two epic feats and it does not requires a lot of feats as WM. I don't know which of the two is more powerful since I only played WM. But I like the idea of CoT more, comes to think of it.

Bingo, finesse build!

Wow, I can't believe I took that long to catch on. 2009 isn't starting out too well. Thanks for the wakeup call anyway. :p

You should consider improved whirlwind attack as well.
It requires 23 dex (and 13 int), and it'll allow you to attack creatures within 10 feet of your character instead of just your weapon's reach. This feat is good if you get swarmed by many enemies and your weapon is light/tiny.
