Working as a Marketing Analyst right here, although I studied Chemical Engineering in college. Have only been working 7 months and will be transferring to another rotation in February. Pay is pretty good for someone my age - the same as any starting Chem E salary, but the work is pretty boring and mind numbing. I hate getting up early every single day, and dealing with typical corporate bull****. My life is kind of like Office Space except less programming. Haven't been around long enough to tell you if this is a good gig relative to other careers

Anyway what do you guys for a living? Would you recommend it to others? Also some perspective is nice - how many years have you been working in the field, what industry are you in, etc. Also what are some common public misconceptions about what you do? What are you general likes and dislikes? What's your day at work like?

I'm a student of computer graphics.

I wouldn't recommended it. Not because it's boring or stupid or anything, but because this is my preference. To those that like making art on computers, sure I'd recommend it.

And even the people who are interested in computer graphics may not want to make a career of it. It's all about preference, I can't say my career choice is the best because it's what I'm interested it, and you may not be. Auto repair may be your choice, or computer technology, maybe creative writing I don't know but I can recommend that you go after what you enjoy.

I can also recommend that you don't buckle down and go for a standard career only for the purpose of money, getting a career and following a dream are two very different things.

I used to go to my college for computer information tech, which sounded like a fun and common degree but turned out to be extremely boring. I switched to computer graphics and have never had so much actual fun and enjoyment going to school in my life.
