EXCUSE ME! I take some form of offense to this, as I am heavy Canadian, and don't think it is fare to state that! PEople only "blame" Canada is because they either don't realize what we're trying to do as a poeple and are participation in the world, or they think we're a bunch of Snow_trudging yahoos, who depend on our "big brother" (

) the states!

what do people blame them for? if anything, people assume that they are absolutely impotent in the grand scheme of things.

@Aegis: I was not being offensive to your or your country. I don't blame Canada. It's just that I have heard a lot of blaming Canada jokes from TV, radio, people, etc. I am just wondering why everyone does that.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have had several Canadian friends and I have never seen any reason to blame Canada...though...if it is a political thing, then that would explain why I don't know the answer to this question.

@SS: It's the fact that Canadians so readily accept what other Countires tell them. The States tell us to be more like them, so what happens? Our Government starts adopting more of their practices. For the longest time here in Ontario, we had Free Health care! Some Sleaze-ball Priemer comes in, likes Americans so much, adopts the idea of Paying for Health Care. So what hapens, funding goes away, health care degenerates, and people get pissed off and violent. Suddenly, we've just become more like Americans (No offense to all those non-violent Americans, I know some of you are good). Canada is too much of a lapdog, and the fact that most Canadians don't realease this is very frustrating! I hate to see things like "Canada is too blame", or "Go to Canada, they like everyone", and other **** like that. We have been sterotypes, and lap dogs of other countires all our lives, and I am really sick of it. I used to be able to joke about crap like this, but I can't anymore, because it's no longer a joke. The jokes are dead, and it's becoming insulting. I am one of the biggest Canadian Patriots in the Country, and even I am growing impatient with the friggin' place!

The "blame canada" thing in South Park was actually an insult to the USA saying all they can do is blame others for their mistakes.

Don't say "no it's not!" Well, because it's true.
Also, if you look above..it's lame "aboot" and "eh?" things that tick me off..we don't say "Aboot" and for me "Eh?" is a rare thing to be heard in my speech.
This repetitive joke of insulting us went dead, well,we'll leave it at.. a f%*&en long time ago. It's just not funny anymore..it's more of a way to tell who has 3 brain cells and who has more.

well, you still have socialized medicine, and you have oen of the single best medical care systems in the world, but it is due to the US. if the US wasn't here to pick up those that don't wish to wait in line, there would be multitudes of people VERY upset. but, unfortunately for the US, we don't have a safety net...our unhappy people (the uninsured) cannot go to canada for healthcare, like canada can send their unhappy...the rich...to here.
and as far as everyone likes canada. in the US it is a big joke to say that if you are ever overseas to say you are canadien, but don't dare say that in most of africa...they HATE canada. myself and friends of mine have seen in some hotel bars where canadien visitors were outright told to leave. they were denied all service just because they were canadien.
i never in a million years would have ever thought someoen had such severe views towards canada. like i said earlier, i just thought most people considered them to be nothing. impotent. ineffective, etc.
but i guess that is my US biases coming into play, but i have also been aroudn the world and have never heard any mention of canada

@Craig: Rapier is right in this case. It's probably best not to start something like this... We'll just leave everyone with there own opion, before the hordes of Americans that visit this forum flame you to temperatures hotter than hell...
