Getting Started MoTB (Spoiler)

So far MoTB is pretty challenging. My level is only 17 and I have done the shadow theatre. I am a Yuan ti. I had 3 reloads so far against Red Wizards. I have a good build made by a builder its a fun build. Eventually R12 F12 BG4 FZ2 with Epic Divine Might, Feint and Fighter AB feats. Along with Epic Precision. Always wanted to play a tough warrior rogue.
Ok so I fought the pirates in the bar and got anhilated so I think my team is too weak in items and levels. Where do you think I could go first to get stronger. Where is the earliest place to farm xp? I guess I'll try shadow mulsantir now and try to find the celestial dove.
In the battle they must have had a very easy time hitting my group. I got haste casted and body of sun and dropped one with my main character but then my team was literally ripped apart. I think 31 AC is the highest AC in the party. I have only like 50000 gold so I don't see how I can buy enough items to raise AC by 5 each party member grrr. Safiya might be able to craft some better armor (craft armor 9), but I'd like to wait until someone can craft mithril fullplate rather than waste time crafting crap. Plus I'm not sure what she'll be able to accomplish at level 18. I could craft a tower shield (or buy the +3) along with my weapon focus weapon mielikis scimitar but need gold.
Any advice? Should I restart after using a trainer to level my ass up to 20?

I don't ever remember having a problem with the bar Pirates. It might have had something to do with creating too powerful of a character. Dwarf - Bard(4)/Paladin(6)/RDD(10)/DD(10). Once I cleared out the Ice Troll Lodge and grabbed all their stuff my AC was so high that I was untouchable. Between the boredom from the lack of a challange, and the annoying spirit eater garbage, I have never gotten more than half way through MoB.
Anyway, back to your question... Go pick up Gann from the Jail, and the Dove from the Shadow Temple, and you should be able to handle the pirates easily. Of course... getting to the temple is probably tougher than the Pirates, so I'd wander around town picking up as much experiance as possible. See if you can pass any of the tests in the Ice Troll Lodge.
Also... If you've got a rogue you should be able to evade Sofia's fireballs. Get every one to attack you're main character, and then drop some fireballs on them. Of course... they might be able to evade too, so maybe that wouldn't work.

Well I managed to get Gann and Kaelyn. Now I am going to try the bar by the Docks again...
Just a question(s):
1) Can I do the Ice Troll trials get those items AND start a fight with the Berserkers and then get THOSE drops too. Or not? Which is better if not both?
2) Is there any kind of consequence for my actions at the Ice Troll lodge? Is it isolated part of game? Or do my companions care etc? Unlock different plot twists etc..
Another question:
Both Gann and Sophia are getting Empower spells at only 1 level above base. So 2nd level empowered magic missiles etc. I cannot figure out why. I looked at their items and I couldn't find one that gave this effect??

1) No, you cannot complete all the Ice Lodge Trials and then start a fight. You can go straight up to Forovan and arm wrestle with him without getting the trials in your journal, though. That way, if your strength is 30+, you could get 1000 experience for beating him (or 500 if it is lower), and then kill all of them.
Besides, the drops they give you for completing the trials will drop when you kill them anyways.
Unless your character has the rage or frenzy ability, there's not much point in completing the trials, except for getting a
very good sword. If you care more about the experience, kill them.
2) No, they do not care at all. And I've never noticed any twists in the plot, killed or alive.
3) They got that ability based on your influence, I think. Safiya
should get it, but why Gann (and later the others) get that ability I don't quite grasp myself.

If I want to be a good character can I have Okku do the arm wrestling to get the belt?

No.
You can have Safiya scribe shape change as a scroll for you if you got a high enough UMD. Then turn into a night walker and your strength will be... 38

I tried to kill the ice troll lodge, but I think Kaelyn screwed my team over with her storm of vengeance spell. At the end it was me and the shaman but the shaman just had endless spells and 3 pets helping him. I guess I will try again but I don't like the fight because with all the spell effects I can't see anything. Plus it crashes half the time.

Minor Spoiler:
The Shaman isn't the end of the fight.. so be *VERY* prepared. It's one of the most difficult battles in the game
