I have defeated Nadaj and killed all of the genius loci trees but the woodman won't appear.

Is there anything I can do to make him appear?

Assuming you've really killed everything, then what probably happened is that a script didn't fire correctly. The easiest thing to try is to play through the battle again and hope that it works better the second time. There might be a console command to make the Wood Man appear, but good luck finding it.

I no longer have a savegame before that point - does anyone know the script?

If not, is the woodsman essential to continuing in the game?

Unfortunately, the meeting with the Wood Man is required in the campaign.

I've found out what should happen - a cutscene with the woodman - but it doesn't seem to appear.

Any ideas of what I should do?

Is there anyway of restarting the quest/level if no one knows the script to fire the cutscene?
