Just bought and installed Icewind Dale for old times sake. The problem I'm having is with text. Whenever, say, a random townsperson says something (out of chat box, just the dialogue that appears above their heads when going about their business) the text shows up along with a huge black box that obscures about 1/4 of the game screen. This box stays until the text goes away.

Is there any way to fix this? It's not a huge problem obviously, but is rather annoying when i go to battle, and some orc yells its battle cry and obscures the rest of the monsters until his text fades.

FYI I have a very good machine, and this is a rather old game, so I have a feeling it has nothing to do with system specs but rather settings maybe?
