Please help me, lag in kotor 2

Post by swfan »

Hi, as you can see this is my first post, im new to the forums, im wondering if anyone can help me get rid of the lag in KOTOR II TSL, whenever a grenade explodes, or smoke appears, my fps drops to about 2-5fps.

i have no idea why, but here are my specs

Pentium 4 HT CPU : Prescott @ 3200MHz
1.5GB RAM @ 400MHz
Nvidia GeForce FX 5500 PNY Tech. Labs 128Mb DDR graphics memory
Latest graphics drivers
DirectX 9.0c
Windows XP Pro SP3, Fully Updated,
The game is fully patched and is up to date.

Please anyone who can help...

the only possible problem that I can see is your graphics card...I dont recognise it, but I could buy one for $60, so I'm guessing that its old and might not have T&L. aside from that...turn down the graphics?

yep, i think thats it. KotoR 2 takes (i think) 256 mb of vido ram, so you fall short there. but the 5500 should have 256 (at least, from what i found online), so make sure thats what your really have (unless said computer is a laptop, in which case it has the right amount, but still wont run the game).

well, its a special edition from PNY Labs, its reasonable good, it runs perfectly at about 50-60 fps but when smoke pops up, or when grenades explode it goes to about 5 fps

EDIT - i looked up the game's requirements and it says at least 32MB video RAM.

i have no idea why this is like this.
