Multiplayer Woes (Merged)

Post by cheesyzfilmz »

My friend and I are playing a DG CE LAN game with me hosting. When we got to the elven outpost, I got the mark of ordained favour (the elven spirit guide did not appear for him). We went into the outpost, saved, and exited. I decided to make a new character and we loaded the game and started, with me playing the newly created character and him playing his previously saved. Here is where the problem occurs.
We found out very quickly that my new character does not have the mark so we jumped over the wall and went back to the altar of peace, but the elven spirit guide will no longer appear so we can no longer get the mark.
So now were stuck.
Is this a bug? And if so, anyway to fix?
If not, any work arounds?

LAN Problem

Hello, I am ne to this game, bought it 2 weeks ago, I really enjoy playing it. But I have already experinced some bugs/ problems, I am playing Lan with an friend of mine. and we have got to the part where to place that horn on the altar, we talked to that mage, and moved back to talk to the other one who examined the horn first, and when we get there. the guard say he was not expecting visitors, and we ask him about the horn and take the lift upp. and talk to him, and after that we cant get any further, he just ask's about the horn again.

It is really annoying, we have tried to walk back to fargrove after that, but they wont let us in...I hope any one can help me.

I haven't played in a long time so a lot of the questions I forget (ie where is the brick that I have to pull) or never knew in the first place (ie why is my game not loading).

I try to check for some basic questions that I can remember the answers to. Its a pretty fun game but I didn't replay it to much I just played one character up to right before the witch and xp farmed for ages and then got tired of it and never finished. I think I was a Marauder/Wizard which was a pretty insane combo.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

@Pirrlow: Please don't hijack threads. If your question doesn't have anything to do with an existing topic, just create a new one.

Dungeon Lords has all sorts of problems with multiplayer games. If you just want to wander around and kill things then it will probably work, but if you actually want to complete the campaign then it probably won't.

you could just import your character.

I did this and sometimes if fixed my problems all and all.
but still... friendly reminder keep two saves or three of the same game and
leave one save alone after a part of game, this way if you experience anything that will and might come up you can always go back to that save without starting over completely.

trust me, it sucks when you lose a lvl 80+ death lord especially if your hard drive ends up turning out to be cooked metal.
in other worse keep your saves on a usb memory stick as well.
trust me you won't to play dungeon lords for time if that happens.
(personal experience bud just take the advice and use it while you can.)

Okay If you get stuck why not just get past in single player and then load the save in multiplayer? This seems to work just fine. I have had this game for all of 2 weeks. There is nothing else quite like it which amazes me. What amazes me even more is that there is no real community supporting this game including the developer. This game would sell very well today if they made a sequel with all these same concepts but without the bugs. This game has that rare quality where you actually play the game instead of watching the game. I have 6 computers running it on the LAN and we play for hours at a time. We used to play Dungeon Siege but Dungeon Siege 2 only supports 4 players. Also Dungeon Siege is entirely Linear you follow the path and that's it. We also tried Titan Quest which was okay but now that we played this we don't like it anymore.

emmindor bug.

I'm playing MP LAN with a friend using DG CE.
We just put Glamdryns horn into the Chamber of Spirits. When we go back to Emmindor, He just asks us to show him the horn and we get stuck there.
Also, the dialogue option to complete the House of the Tiger quest (get the heraldry) will not appear for us. He just asks us over and over agian if we want to seek the path of the tiger.

I merged a few multiplayer threads together. So far as I know, the answer is always the same: Dungeon Lords does not work very well in multiplayer, and if you try playing the campaign then quests will probably break. If people know of a way around these problems, then please post them here.

Me and my bro actually did complete the game on multiplayer lan so it is possible. The only problem we had was entering emindors tower. We fixed the problem though, we just needed to only push shift once to enter and wait. as far as i know the way to beat the game on multiplayer is to know where the bugs are and how to avoid them. Also it is a good idea to use multiple save slots as a back up in case of bugs. Good luck on multi player!
