Corridor of traps

I just started playing BG2 again with the Tactics and Ascension mods installed. The duergar in the beginning dungeon are bad enough, but in the hallway of traps after that with the mosaic floor I was wondering if there's a way to disarm them. Imoen doesn't seem to be able to do it. She usually dies by walking over the traps also, which I am trying to avoid. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

As I recall, I used Yoshimo for that. But it's been some time. Did you try him, as well?

Ahh, I wondered about that. I have the 'skip Irenicus dungeon' mod installed and I told Yoshimo to meet me at the Copper Coronet. Guess it's reload time. Thanks for the tip.
Update: Just tried with Yoshi and he can't disarm them either.

I found out what I was doing wrong. Apparently you need a certain item to disarm them. My question now is, which melee class starts out the strongest? I am playing with difficulty mods and I need to know which build to aim for. Thanks again for any help.

well, a berserker that's enraged should be able to shrug off the confusion and hold effects that those dwarven clerics like to cast. any other character is likely to be too low of a level to make the saving throws. for what it's worth, irenicus's dungeon + tactics is redonkulous. you can't even rest in between fights without being attacked by yet another high-level party. and don't even get me started on ilyich, fighting people with hla's is not something you need right at the start.

One thing I noticed is that if you do the tutorial before starting the game, you can have your protagonist memorize spells without needing to rest in Irenicus' dungeon. AFAIK you don't start with spells memorized any other way.
Also: if you are transferring items from BG1 (most notably the pantaloons) theese will disappear if you do the tutorial, and not be available in the dungeon like they should.
