Hey guys,
I'm totally new here and totally new with the game and am in some need of help. My charrming little char is currently getting her behind charred again and again in the last room of the trial. Mostly she just gets overwhelmed with spirits, and I;m running out of ways to approach these creatures. Would any of you be able to throw some advice out there for her? I've tried what the walkthrough recommends but it just doesn't seem to be enough.

Thanks. I hope this might liven up your days a little bit.

Fire Spout room in Trial of the elders

do not fo all the way into the room, in otherwards do not pass the first set of fire spouts as this will keep the door to the room open and you can keep going back out to rest and build up your spells again, or next time make sure you take along plenty of greater heal and blast novas.

Tell us about your character, it's difficult to advise when we don't know what she/he is capable of.

She's a adept, celestial, enchantress...most likely put together badly, I've decided to restart and pay a little more attention to my stats and equipment.

The key for an adept in that situation is Ward of Fire and Blessed Spirit, as many of them as you can afford. Keep moving, keep replacing the Wards and Spirits and hacking away.

Kill the mage before entering the chamber.

Stay in the hallway and hit him with ranged spells and even arrows if you must. Get as many lightning, solar ray, and dispel undead crystals as you can, then pound him into oblivion from the relative safety of the hallway. Once he's taken care of go into the chamber and attack the spirits as soon as they begin to appear.

I also recommend putting heal potions as a hot key. By the time you get into the chamber you should have several hundred heal potions stockpiled.

I have to disagree with vagabond1066, I have done that but the spirit mage in the final room is the least valuable of the four, and frankly, not worth the effort. Taking out the first three on the other hand is fairly easy, even the second if you have Blessed Spirit, and far more rewarding. The amount of XP you get is rather a game killer though, after that you are virtually in god mode, the rest of the game becomes far too easy. All a matter of personal preference of course, but I prefer a challenge all the way through.

if you have it

if you have blessed spirit and divine intervention then this should be a cakewalk. if you have the celsetial skill to cast them that is. fisrt stand in the hall way and cast a blessed spirit behind you (keeps it out of the way) then stand in the door way and cast 4 or 5 divine interventions in the room and while they are attacking the mage (low exp but still 300k) cast lightning on him untill he is dead and wear one of the fire orbs as this will keep his fireballs from the afterburn. once he is dead cast some new minions (if injured) and proceed into the room and use lightning and melee on the elders that spawn.

b.t.w. if you cannot handle 3 spawns at a time stand on one of the circles while the elder is being spawnd and he will not spawn right then but you will have to fight him eventually (like after you let the other 2 circles run out of guys):mischief:

how do you people have such kick butt characters at this early spot in the game? i still havent gotten a second tier class yet. im rogue/fighter. was level 10 upon starting the trial and the weapon im using is the one the weapons guy in arindale 'lends' you for a 2k gold deposit...some kind of fire sword that has to be taken somewhere to recharge. oh, im playing the CE1.5 monster difficulty and encounters both set to default normal

the first guy in the trials was easy, just took forever pelting him with my elven venom bow. the next was hard.......couldnt kill that one, those damn spirits wouldnt stop spawning.
the third was a royal pain getting across those narrow bridges with what felt like the mongolian army of elf spirits beating on me......nothing like a 30 on 1 fight!! the boss guy got knocked in the water and i just sent a never ending wave of arrows at him till he died.
that fire spout room was pretty hard. went through a lot of potions in there, took a few reloads from getting spammed and not healing fast enough

If your not roleplaying and dont mind using nether magic on an adept. Have a bunch of Poisonous Clouds ready. These things imobilize almost everything.

Recipe for Cloud:

Batwing
Ophelia wort (I think its spelled, the pink mushrooms)
Scorpion tail
Ochre pollen

A few clouds of those and the entire floor gets imobilzed, all you have to do is pick em off one by one.
Does wonders on wolfpacks, well any large group of baddies that arent immune to the spell.
Don't have to worry about raising nether magic for it. it works even on level 0. I think at 9 or 10 the damage raises to two, but this spell is not ment for damage.

Well, for starters, you have to put some time into leveling up your character. Then, you should go ahead and do your second tier class quests. If you are not opposed to climbing, you can probably even finish your third tier quest (Eastern Houses require that you finish the tiger quest first).
