Stormlord of Talos cannot cast domain spells

I started playing IWD2 and picked one of the pre-selected parties. I have a Lv 1 Stormlord of Talos and I am not able to use any of his domain spells. I'll memorize Shocking Grasp (Talos 1), for instance, and when in battle, I will go to select it from my menu bar, but my icon doesn't turn to a magic icon ... it remains a hand or a sword when hovered over my enemies and I cannot understand why. His Wisdom is 14. Any ideas?
