start up

Has anyone had a problem getting the witcher to star
t up?
I hit the short cut and the first screen comes up then I hit launch and nothing happens?
My drive works with every other cd- dvd.
It happens when I try to go through a door .
The game shuts down and goes to my main screen .
When I try to start it back up after hitting launch game. It just sits there?

Have you checked your DVD for scratches and/or dirt?
It may also be a faulty installation - have you tried reinstalling?
Other than that, it could be a fault with the data on the DVD - has this been happening since you bought the game?
The other thing I can think of is checking your pc meets all the minimum requirements to play the game and maybe also check the Windows error logs to see if that gives any indication as to what is stopping the game.

Can't you just download the EE? No CD needed then.

You descibed right down to the wire what i checked before I wrote for help
I have 3 gigs hrd and tera.3 memory space.
Is it possible for a dvd to wearout?.

It's the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher. I almost can't believe you haven't heard of it. They sell it in stores but you can download it like a patch for free if you have a registered copy of the original. To me, it's a must-have. I don't know if it would solve your problem, but any rate, it lets you play with no CD. Read about it and get it [url="http://www.thewitcher.com/community/en/www/ee_description.html"]here[/url].
