Cutoff point for Carth's Sidequest? (Spoilers)

I've been looking around the net for an answer to this without any luck, but sorry for posting a new thread if I've missed it somewhere else.
I'm going through KOTOR for the second time (LS female), and while last time I didn't have any trouble with the Dustil sidequest, this time I can't get it to trigger. I think this may be because I avoided taking Carth through any spaceports so I could continue the dialogue with him (which I missed last time). But having now completed Tatooine, Kashyyyk and Manaan, and escaping the Leviathan, I'm wondering if I've hit a cutoff for this quest. (I have tried walking around and rapid transporting in Manaan and Tantooine to no avail).
I found a comple of others who've asked the same/similar questions, but not with any definitive replies. I'd just like to know if there is some way I can trigger Jordo's meeting, or if I have to give up on Dustil. Any help would be greatly appriciated!
