Can't use the console, need help with setup.

Old question, still a problem... I've read just about all the console questions on the web regarding the setup of the console for toee and I still have not found an answer.
Here's what I have:
-patch 1&2 installed, Co8 v. 5 installed, I've even reinstalled the patches
-I'm using a US keyboard.
-Shift ~(tilde), will not open the console.
-I have put in the "-console" by the C:...TOEE.exe
I have tried just about EVERY combination of buttons to open the console but to no avail.
If anyone has an answer or has experienced this and has an answer, please help me out.

This probably won't do the trick, but it's the only other thing I can think of:
try holding ~ down for a little while.
Sometimes I have to do it three or four times to get the console to open. No idea what's causing the trouble.
Sorry - if that doesn't help I really am stumped. .... unless the keyboard is broken.

Nope, no luck. It shouldn't make a difference if I have the Co8 loader running as long as I have the console on the TOEE.exe shortcut right? Now that I think of it, that might be it... Do you know where I'd plant that -console if I'm using the loader?

Hmm, good point. I assume by loader you mean their front-end program. Not sure where you'd add the console line there. Then again, not sure why you'd need it in the first place.
What happens if you run the game without front-end? Can you get the console open then? If it's a co8 problem, then it should be something they should be made aware of, if they aren't already.

No dice using TOEE without the front end, or loader. Every time I've tried using either the loader or just the exe of the original game I get no console...

What about without front end but with -console added to the exe?
