I read to build a AA it would be neccessary to use either rogue first than sor than AA is that considered 3 classes or can I add fighter as well ? If I do is there a penalty for 3rd class? I'm not realy up on all these d&d rules but always loved to play as ranger and this one sounds even better. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.. Thanks

There's no need for any rogue levels, I'd recommend just going for Fighter/Wizard/Arcane Archer.
You should be able to avoid the xp penalty altogether as Half-Elves can pick their own favored class and Elves have Wizard as favored class.
