Nicks or Names or Whatever..

by Dottie
The other day someone expressed the thought that my nick was feminine in some way, wich made me think that it would be fun to know how and why everyone here choosed their nicks.

Soo... i guess i have to start.
Once upon a time i used DDT(Dichloro Diphenyl Trichloroethane) as my name on a quake server. At some point someone mistok it for DOT, D and O are rather similar in Q2 after all. This got stuck, and after a while another someone thought it would be fun to call me Dottie just to tease me, so i adopted it.

Your turn.

I think there has been a couple of similar topics before, but since there are many new users around, another go is fine :)

I had the habit of naming my characters in various CRPG:s (BG, BG2, Diablo II) after those poor creatures that are consumed en masse for scientific purposes. Drosophilia (fruit flies), Aplysia (a sea snail) and Caernorhabditis Elegans (a round worm) are among those animals. C Elegans was my ranger protagonist in BG2, so that's why I chosed it as username here.

Mine is a derivitive from Latin. Aegis, translating into Shield, more or less. I choose because of my nature. Very defenisive, and I tend to help 'protect' people smaller than me, or people that or my friends.

My name came from trying to sign up for a login somewhere. I kept thinking of stuff I thought was really original, and someone already had the name!

I don't know how I thought of it, but one of my favorite songs is "Voodoo Dolly" by Siouxsie and the Banshees (from their best album, JuJu), and I just combined it with Dali. Have never had a problem with it being used anywhere by anyone else. Unless I have a doppelganger out there somewhere... I liked the combo...surrealistic voodoo

I came up with ThorinOakensfield but damn Tolkein stole my name to use in his book. He just changed the 'f' to 'h'

I have no idea why I chose Flanders to be my alter ego here at the Banshee. Like VoodooDali, I believe the first five or six names I chose were already taken.

In the real world, I bear little resemblence to the four eyed do gooder neighbor of Homer Simpson.

It was the first thing that popped into my head as I was staring at the form. I honestly have no idea where it came from :D

@C E - you named yourself after a worm?  LMAO! :D I am so happy you didn't use the first name in full....

Well my ID came from the name of my absolutely useless thief in Icewind Dale. I had not realised just how hopeless she was before I used her name in GB - now I am stuck with it  Oh well! now you know...and it is not as dubious as CE's *giggles*

I had invented the name, and it hadn't been taken on GB ;)

:D

Well my Nickname came about from my long dalliance with sleep or lack there of, it is also related to a small evil child from Dark City :) (Which Rocks :) )

The funniest thing is that i have since discovered there is an actual Mr (professer) Sleep out there :D :D

I think I've explain this on a similiar topic in the old days :)

But I'll make it short this time, I'm the youngest on my gang - and since I'm the expert on Ninja Ryukenden (aka Ninja Gaiden) series back in NES days they called me Ryu ( which I adopt it for my Online name. Ryu in Japanese means Dragon. Hence -> Kid + Dragon in short = KidD.

The other stuff can be read on similar topic like this ;)

Eh... Usually my handle is OnyX, but since this is an rpg related site I just took the name from my first BG char, a blue-bearded dwarf with an axe of steel :D

by Lazarus
Anyone know the Bible? I don't - I'm a atheist, actually. But I understand that some dude named Lazarus gets resurrected by Jesus. If you ever saw "The Last Temptation of Christ," you would see Lazarus after being brought back, and he was none too happy about it.

All that, however, doesn't answer your question! I just like the name! I first came across it when just a lad, reading Frank Herbert's "The Lazarus Project."
