Crash to Windows

Hi!

Game crashed after I beat the Brothers at the end of Giovanni Mansion.

My configuration:
2gb RAM DDR
Intel Pentium 4 3ghz
GeForce 7100 GS
Drivers: version 6.14.0011.6921

...help?

PS. I don't use any cheats.
PS2. There's any cheats I could use?
PS3. I tried reinstall game.

Based on the date/time stamp of client.dll, it looks like you have installed the 1.2 Official patch. Any other mods or unofficial patches installed?

The error says unknown symboll error.. which doesn't look like a graphics bug to me. Could be an issue with your copy of the game or the fact that you are running it on H drive in a non-standard directory.

I would recommend re-installing it to the default location (To rule out a path bug issue) and then install Wesp's latest unofficial patch.

6.2. If there is no that patch (I tried to reinstall), I give the newest log. (100% 6.2)

I can't... There isn't enough space to install Bloodlines with unofficial patch on C. Maybe other solution...?

To rule out an issue with the 6.2 patch, your best bet is to contact Wesp. Maybe send him a save game right before the crash. I normally use transferbigfiles.com. You can send the save game file to yourself and then post the link here. Probably want to start a new thread with "Potential 6.2 bug causes crash?" or something like that to get Wesps attention.

What version of the Game do you have? Steam, Retail or Digital Distribution? Also did you install the plus patch or the basic patch? Wesp will need to know these things.

Not necessary, I'm reading everything possibly connected to bugs ;) . My usual first suspicion when crashes occur, regardless of any symbol error messages, would be to ask if you listened to sound files of the game with the Windows Media Player?

No, I'm not.
Also did you install the plus patch or the basic patch?
Plus patch. I tried reinstall it to basic patch, but the bug is still there.

The game crashes on my system too with your saved game but everything is fine when not using it. Maybe it got corrupted somehow? Also it extracts a lot of HL1/HL2/HL3 files for all maps into the SAVE directory. Is this normal?

I'm not think so... when I tried use the older save game, the problem was still there.

Acctualy... It's happening like that since that moment. Previously in "SAVE" folder were only three files - saves.

Is it possible that he didn't start a new game after installing the patch. That would cause issues. Though rarely have I seen using pre-patch save games actually crash the game. Normally things break in a different way (like people not walking around in the maps).

VTMB saves map node data in the save files. When a mod or patch updates the maps, the pre-existing save games become invalid because they have old node data in the save file. Point is, after installing a mod or patch, you must begin a brand new game. You can't use any of your old save games. That is my best guess for the problem.

But I started a new game after I upgrade game to 6.2... O_o

I suspect starting a brand new game is the only way to fix the issue. And even then there are no guarantees.

Start a new game. When you get to the tutorial, open the console and type
"map sp_giovanni_4". This will take you strait to the chang brothers fight. I would use the console commands "giftXP 200" and "god" to make the fight easier. See if the game crashes when the fight is over. If it doesn't, that is a good sign that the game wont crash if you start over again. (You can't actually use the test game because all the game states will be messed up.)

If that doesn't work, re-install the game, install the Official Path only, rinse and repeat the chang brother fight. If it still crashes, it is compatibility issue with your computer. About the only thing I can suggest is to try throwing dxlevel -70 on the shortcut (forces direct X 7 graphics) incase your card doesn't support DX9c. I dont think this is your problem because of the error message, but it is something to try.

If it still crashes after all the suggestions above, then I shrug my shoulders.

One thing about this post, it got me thinking. If I embed a special object in all of my mods maps, (say with the name of the mod) I can write a python function that searches for the object when the map loads and pop up an error message on the screen if the object isn't found. This would essentially be an indicator that users are using an old save game. I think I will add this to compmod because diagnosing old-save-game issues is a real pain.

Ok, I'm just after using that cheats and... Bloodlies works. I had hoped that I don't have to start a new game, but... damn - Vampire is too good.
