I recently downloaded Drakensang from D2D, and I am getting the following error message when I try to run the game:

Application failed to start because d3dx9_39.dll was not found.

I have re-downloaded 3 times so far, and all downloads gave me the same error. I don't get past the developer's names before the game crashes. I have a top of the line system with an advanced video card (1 gig resident RAM, 6 gigs system RAM, massive hard drive, etc.) and all other specs needed to play.

Has anyone else experienced a problem like this? Anybody know of a fix?

Have you tried contacting D2D? Given that the problem may be theirs, they would seem the best ones to solve it. Plus, you bought it from them, so they owe you.

That dll file is a part of DirectX. So it sounds like you need to head to Microsoft's web site and download the latest version.
