Best Item?

I was playing the other day, went to the planar prison unprepared and got toasted, Aeire died and Minsc went nuts and chased Keldorn into the thralls, eventually they both died. And With Vicona being about as tough as a summers breeze she fell too. Last to fall was Jaheira. Luckily my main character is a well armoured Swashbuckler, and is barely being touched. So I rifle through my inventory and pluck out my wand of Resurection.

Pop up comes Jaheira, pass her the Wand. Keep wailing on the baddies.

Pop up comes Aerie, Pop comes up Viconia. The Artillery has arrived.

Pop up comes Minsc and Keldorn. The Caverly ha arrived. By this time most of the monsters are dead, good thing too as without equipment those two are a bit useless.

I then went on to cruise through. Saved my life it did!

Any items that came in handy like that?

One of my favorite items is that simulcrium helmet. I love putting it on my favorite tank and sending it in first, using up item charges and potions like there is no tommorro! (of course there is no tommorro for that poor simulcrium) The reason the helmet is such a good item is because it being used for a class that could never cast the spell, plus it increases in level as the character using it does.

Still hard to argue against the Wand of Resurection.

And of course the Holy Avenger with Keldorn or you PC inquisitior prettymuch reduces enemy mages to helpless pinyatas!

There is one item out there that helps me defeat Kangaax a bit earlier than usual. The Ring of the Ram allows you to do ~10-25 damage to him, usually putting him at "Near Death" where you can finish him with a few of Melf's Minute Meteors or a good whack from one of the few +5 weapons available early in the game.

I once had an awfully difficult time fighting Draconis. He kept destroying my party, over and over again, despite changing my tactics and doing my best to remove his many, many protection spells.

Then, right at the start of the battle, somehow Keldorn hit him with Carsomyr, and the dispel actually worked. Wiped out every single protection. He was down in a round. :D

Don't forget to use Keldorns dispell magic inate ability which is twice as powerful as his level. Between True Sight, his inate dispell, and Carsomyr's dispell + 50% MR its pretty hard for spell casters to hold up against him. In the vanilla game a high level inquisitor with caotic commands cast on them is pretty hard to stop.

I would say that Keldorn is one of the most useful party members in the game. Immunity to Charm and Hold means that he is usually still standing and able to help out other party members that fail their saves. He has that uber powerful Dispel Magic, in addition to multiple True Sight casts per level and the ability to wield the fairly powerful Carsomyr +6.

His Dispel Magic makes much of the game too easy. Way too easy.

Robe of Vecna is great for mages, Amulet of Power is lovely too.

What about the shield of Balduran? very useful against those irritating Beholders.

I used it inside the Underdark once, took the whole cave on my one, the rest of the party could have taken a beer or two.

Mine is glitched, doesn't reflect, only makes me immune.

See, that was the brilliantly fluke-y thing about my experience. Keldorn's dispel wouldn't remove Darconis' protections but they would remove the protections on my NPCs. The dispel on Carsomyr probably had a 1% chance of working, and it did. Its unlikely I'd be able to repeat what happened, but it was awesome nonetheless. :D

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Cloak of Deflection (or Reflection, as it was in vanilla SoA). The ToB version was fine, but the non-tweaked version was probably the most overpowered item in the game.

I agree, this shield makes killing beholders the easiest thing in the game.

And Ring of Gaxx is also useful.

Don't wear it with Cloak of Mirroring/Reflection(or whatever it's called...you get it at the end of chapter 4 I believe, don't ask me to spell the race's name).

The mace of disruption can be a really handy item at times.

Once I was soloing as a fighter, and was ready to take on Kangaxx, so I got his parts and went to him.

It was only after destroying his first form that I realized my big mistake, I forgot to bring a +4 weapon along to harm him!

Getting desperate, and not wanting to have to redo the fight some other time I started to try all of my weapons, and decided "well lets try the mace of disruption". So I equipped it, and after just 3 hits that did 0 damage to him Kangaxx failed his saving throw and was killed instantly.
